Photos from the Arctic
As most of you will know by now, I had been on a recent trip to the Svalbard Archipelago in Norway. My journeys took me up to the latitude of 81 degrees north so the area is firmly in the Arctic. I have added a spotlight on this journey on the website that I use for my photo portfolios. The spotlight: arctic section can be found here.
I spent 12 nights on the Ocean Nova with Quark Expeditions during this journey and saw an incredible range of wildlife and landscapes.. My photo portfolio includes photos of polar bears, Arctic foxes, seals, reindeer, and landscapes including some captured around midnight in this “land of the midnight sun”.
I was very lucky with the weather on the trip with lots of blue skies and warmer temperatures than expected. We managed to circumnavigate Spitsbergen (the biggest island in the Svalbard Archipelago) and when we crossed the 80 degrees latitude we were about 600 miles from the North Pole – certainly the farthest north I have been.
I will tell you more about the trip in upcoming times but wanted to let you know that some of my photos are now available for viewing as soon as possible.
