Phototips on Saturday: Virtual copy function in Lightroom
As most of you will know, I’ve been participating in photo101 over the last three weeks. One of the assignments during the last week reminded me about how useful the ‘create virtual copy’ function is in Lightroom. If you haven’t used this function before I highly recommend it. During the last week, I made use of it when preparing for the photo101 assignment on architecture and monochrome.
Monochrome photography is not a subject I have devoted any attention to before. So when I went out and snapped some architectural photos I developed both colour and black and white versions of the images by using the ‘create virtual copy’ function. The function is found in the photo section of Lightroom. It is obviously useful for adopting different post processing approaches in Lightroom.
Since then I have used the function for other monochrome work. A comparison between the colour and B&W versions of one photo are shown below.
